Welcome to the Alumni Newsletter

April 2012

It has been a very busy month on both sides of the Atlantic at the Mountbatten Institute with new groups beginning their internships in both New York and London. Despite the economic gloom, publicity surrounding the programme has helped retain a high profile (please see three recent articles published in three very different publications below), and has had the knock-on effect of bringing more employment opportunities to our alumni (via our alumni website), as the Mountbatten reputation spreads far and wide.

The wedding season is now upon us, and so we are featuring several of our own. Everybody enjoys a good wedding, so get in touch with your accounts and lovely pictures.

With the countdown to the London Olympic Games bringing the opening even closer, we would like to feature more of your sporting endeavours during and post programme, so please keep your stories and sponsorship requests coming in.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcome your feedback.

Mountbatten Weddings

Kathleen and Sean Wickersham (August 2007 - London)

You may have noticed that our "Alums of the Month" this month are a married couple, and it's in keeping with this theme that we have pleasure in featuring the wedding of Kathleen (Jarmon) Wickersham with Sean Wickersham (August 2007 - London), and Meredith (Gilbert) Wells with Benjamin Wells (August 2006 - London).

We would love to feature more Mountbatten wedding stories, so please get in touch with your photos, so we can include you in future issues.

2012 - Year of Sport

On 9th June 12, Henry Woodruff (September 2008 - New York) is competing in the Blenheim Palace Triathlon, trying to beat the likes of Jenson Button, in the hope of raising money for Cancer Research UK and The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Charity. Having lost a close friend to Leukaemia when he was 10 years old, and seeing the devastating emotional effects of living with cancer, both charities are very close to Henry's heart.

Visit Henry's sponsorship page, any donations would be gratefully received.

Articles

It is always good to see articles in the national press profiling the Mountbatten Institute, aiding the spreading of our excellent reputation far and wide.
In case you haven't seen them, we've got three articles in three very different publications:
The first is an article published in the UK national newspaper, The Independent, and focuses on the MBA.
The second is an article in UK Look Magazine focusing on the working abroad aspect to the Programme. The third is an article in The Brief (British Chamber of Commerce, Thailand) by Dennis Garritan, Associate Dean, and Amanda Boyd, MBA (September 2010 - New York).

Jobs

To keep up to date with all available job opportunities, please go to our alumni website where you will find vacancies in recruitment consultancy, marketing, finance, online marketing analysis, and even an opportunity to work for a European Investment Bank based in Frankfurt.

In addition, the programme continues to foster close relationships with several recruitment agencies (all of whom have alumni on the permanent staff), and includes Robert Walters, Angela Mortimer and Prospect33. So do make contact if you are uncertain of which way to turn next, as they all understand the programme and have plenty of experience of placing alumni.

Also, if you think your company has a suitable vacancy, please forward me the full job description and application details, and we can put this on our website, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Alumni Committee Updates & Announcement

The Mountbatten Institute London based Alumni Committee would like to thank all those who helped make our drinks reception on 24th April such a success. The raffle raised £80, which will go into the Committee fund and help finance future events.
