Launching groups on Mountbatten Connect!

We are launching Groups on Mountbatten Connect! In an effort to curate more alumni-generated content, we have opened up Groups for you to post relevant news, articles, updates, and events to smaller circles. We have started with location-centric groups – for New York, London, Scotland, and the US West Coast – and are looking for locally-based alumni interested in chairing the groups! A group for Alumni in Canada has also been started by Kesh Sandhu (London, 2010), who is based in Toronto. If you are in one of the locations which already has a group, please go check it out and post to your local Mountbatten alumni! We hope location groups will serve as a jumping off point for local news and events, which you will be able to check on whether you are home or away and can see alumni in other places! If you are interested in starting a group – for your location, intake, profession, or other – please do, and reach out to Torrey if you need any support!

Lord Ivar Mountbatten to succeed the Countess Mountbatten of Burma as Patron of the Institute

The Board of Directors of the Mountbatten Institute is delighted to announce that Lord Ivar Mountbatten has graciously accepted our invitation to become the next Patron of the Institute, succeeding the late Countess Mountbatten of Burma who passed away last summer.

Lord Ivar, as the great-grandson of Prince Louis of Battenberg, is a great-nephew to the late Earl Mountbatten of Burma, after whom the Institute was named in 1983. He was very close to the late Patricia, Countess Mountbatten, and often accompanied her to, or represented her at, various Mountbatten Institute events, including our Gala 30th Anniversary dinner in New York. He was her choice to succeed as Patron.

In accepting the role of Patron, Lord Ivar noted:

"Of course it is with sadness that the position has come to pass through the death of my much loved Aunt Patricia, The Countess Mountbatten of Burma. As the first and only Patron of the Institute, I saw first hand the energy, diligence and passion she applied to her role, and I can only hope to emulate her commitment which I now pledge to do.
I am very excited to become more involved with this inspiring institution. It has already forged a solid reputation as the quality of its many thousands of alumni can testify, some of whom I met at Lady Patricia's memorial in New York last year, and at previous events I attended.
I am so impressed with the work that has been done and I look forward to working closely with the trustees to help strengthen and grow the Institute and, in so doing, guarantee its future sustainability.
"

Lord Ivar, father of three daughters, lives at Bridwell Park in Devon, where he manages the family estate and oversees a conference, reception and event center.

"I was very fortunate that I had a job lined up with Bank of America in Campus Recruiting prior to coming back to the States. So after a quick two weeks reuniting with friends and family across the States, I started with the Technology Campus Recruiting team in Charlotte, North Carolina... Four years later and I am still with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, now in New York, working in Global Markets Campus Recruiting. I am in my fourth role at the bank and have enjoyed getting to work with different areas and programs. I appreciate that the bank realizes the potential of their employees, sometimes before we realize it ourselves, and continues to promote and offer new opportunities as we grow."
