February 2018 Edition

Diverse Achievements

In the U.S. and Canada it has been Black History Month during February, where they remember the important contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout their nations' history. This newsletter celebrates with them.

Although Valentine's Day has now been and gone, we are delighted to share a cross-cultural Mountbatten engagement. It brings together a New York Programme alum with a current London trainee (See the News section). The benefits of the Programme are indeed long term and far-reaching!

Meanwhile, in both the UK and US we continue to build on our relationships with academic institutions that have produced quality candidates for us over the years. If you are still in touch with your former university, and would like to be involved in developing these connections, especially with the Careers Service and Business Schools, then please get in touch with Vicki.

Not long until Spring now!

SheBuildsBrands - Kubi Springer Masterclass

As part of the Mountbatten Career Speaker Series, current Mountbatten Trainees in New York were lucky to attend a Professional Masterclass on "Personal Branding and Your Career" by Mountbatten Alum, Kubi Springer (New York, 2001). We were thrilled to welcome Kubi back again to the Mountbatten office in NY. As founder of SheBuildsBrands, Kubi is an international brand marketing consultant and speaker who has designed and delivered branding campaigns for some of the biggest clients in the world – all starting when she was introduced to Blue Flame (Puff Daddy's Marketing & Advertising Agency) during her time in New York. She credits a lot of her achievements to her experience and exposure in NY when she was on the Programme. Adopting an interactive Q&A format, Kubi helped our trainees understand how she built her career by leveraging her time and experience in New York – and how they can, too. Her tip for the day was to "See yourself as a Business of One. Have a CRM system for yourself, keep those contacts stored and turn them into relationships that will propel your career."

At the end of the event Kubi offered to take one of the attendees with her to a NY fashion show she was attending that weekend. Next month we will share that lucky Mountbatten's experience!
